Position SummaryAs an Equipment Operator at Oncor, you will operate heavy vehicle (tractor trailers) to deliver transformers and other equipment to various service centers and job sites in compliance with State and Federal Department of Transportation Commercial Driver license provisions. You will obtain a fixed cab crane operator certification per National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators or an Electrical Industry Certifications Association crane license within a reasonable time frame. You will also operate forklift or crane to load, unload and position heavy equipment. In this role, you will access and update Company computer data base regarding equipment activity and location. The incumbent will demonstrate higher level skill sets to consolidate and prepare material including, but not limited to, electrical equipment and associated apparatus, tankers, and all other wastes.
Key Responsibilities Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Must possess a Class A commercial driver license and must pass DOT physical requirements.
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
- Must acquire a NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) or EICA (Electrical Industry Certifications Association) crane certification to operate a crane in a reasonable time frame.
- Must possess or acquire tanker and hazardous endorsements on CDL in a reasonable time frame.
- Must be trained and certified to operate forklift in a reasonable time frame.
- Must become proficient in systems operation with little supervision.
- Load/unload truck and trailers and move materials to designated locations using a forklift.
- Become knowledgeable of DOT and environmental regulations in a reasonable time frame.
- Operate forklift or crane to position heavy equipment and maintain equipment, such as: forklift, tractor, etc.
- Deliver materials and containers to and from company facilities.
- Perform the work necessary for proper load securement for all type of electrical equipment.
- Understand the basics of using personal computers and access and update Company data information systems.
- Must become proficient in Work tech, and Maximo, field hq and scan hub,& other Oncor data management systems to track materials at SOSF and throughout the Oncor system in a reasonable time frame.
- Handle forms, documents and other paperwork as required.
- Respond appropriately to emergency response situations.
- Become knowledgeable of PCB and environmental regulations in a reasonable time frame.
- Perform work consistent with the appropriate safety handbook that is published by each division or subsidiary.
- Perform other waste handling, preparation, storage and shipment duties as may be assigned.
- Develop and maintain the skill required to operate equipment safely.
- Available for occasional or possible weekly overnight travel delivering to all Oncor locations.
- On-call rotation for emergency response 24/7.
- Provide on and off system support for emergency restoration in and out of state for extended periods of time.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education - High School diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
Required Experience- Equipment Operator A1- A4: 1 to 2 years experience operating heavy equipment or other related experience.
- Equipment Operator Senior: 3 to 4 years experience operating heavy equipment or other related experience.
Skills- Must possess good computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel is preferred.
- Proficient in the operation of vehicles and or other related other equipment.
- Able to climb up and down from tractor trailer and other related equipment.
- Able to bend, stoop and lift over extended periods of time.
- Able to perform assignments in all types of weather, work locations and traffic conditions.
